The theme of the 19th edition of the Nu Dance Fest is symbiosis. Since its beginning in 2006, the festival has aimed to support local creation and its representatives – choreographers, directors and performers, along with their technical teams.
However, the goal of supporting the local scene is not about building a purely Slovak culture. In fact, it's quite the opposite – to contribute to the creation of a strong and self-confident artistic environment that generates original, impactful and high-quality works ready to collaborate with the international scene as partners, prepared for cooperation, blending of viewpoints, constructive discussions and mutual cultural enrichment. These are works whose creators will be invited to international artistic teams and projects to offer hope for our increasingly complex world.
The materialization of symbiosis in art is through co-productions and genre blending. This year's edition of Nu Dance Fest will offer performances that have emerged as a common result of the collaboration between domestic and foreign creators, some of them even in direct co-production with financial donors from multiple countries.
It is scientifically proven that the most significant evolutionary milestones have arisen from the encounter of different organisms. We believe in this way of cooperation, actually as the only possible one.
